FREMONT SOLSTICE PARADE, produced by the Fremont Arts Council

Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 3pm

 Parade

The 2014 Fremont Solstice Parade takes place on Saturday at 3 pm where fantastic floats, marching bands and many free spirits are sure to delight crowds in the Center of the Universe. The 26th annual Fremont Solstice Parade is produced by the non-profit Fremont Arts Council; and begins 33th and Leary Way. The Parade ends in Gasworks Park at HONK! Fest West, where the celebration with local and national street bands, food, beverages, and art carries on until nightfall.

SEATTLE ART CAR BLOWOUT

Art Cars

Singing lobsters, a mobile chalkboard, and a whole lot of dental knickknacks – it wouldn’t be the Fremont Fair without the Seattle Art Car Blow-Out. The weekend features the largest gathering of Art Cars in the Northwest – over 75 decorated cars will be on display on Saturday and Sunday!

SUNDAY DOG PARADE

Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 2:30pm

Sunday at 2:30pm the Dog Parade, paralleling its human counter part, will march through the Fair Grounds featuring our furry friends of all shapes and sizes. Registration takes place on Sunday on 35th Avenue & Phinney, behind the big purple slide from 11am-1:30pm. A $10 registration fee benefits, COLA, Citizens for Off Leash Areas, and is required per dog family.

YOGA FOR THE SOLSTICE

Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 10:30am

Grab your mat and join the Yoga for the Solstice at the Fremont Fair. Taking place Sunday at 10:30am on the Rocket Block, yoga teacher, Laura Yon, will lead a solstice-inspired, one hour yoga practice for all levels complete with summer sun salutations. Free raffle prizes will be given away from Laura Yon, KIND Bar, and Barefoot Yoga.

FREMONT ABBEY KIDS' ACTIVITIES

Fremont Abbey will host a variety of children’s art activities as well as family friendly entertainment throughout Saturday and Sunday.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Growing Brain Sculpture – Help "grow your brain on the arts"! Add your own creative flair to a giant brain sculpture. Come back and see how it evolves all weekend long!
  • Crazy Chalk Art – Pure fun, no explanation needed!
  • Paint-By-Neighbor – Side-by-side with your neighbors, you can add your voice to a community-sized painting or create a smaller work of art that you can take home
  • Rubber Band Printmaking – Use rubber bands & paint to create beautiful works of art! No experience necessary. Take your own print or card home.
  • Little Monster Puppets – Have fun with water colors, recycled materials, and other zany objects to make a puppet or hat adornment.
  • Music Makers – Make simple musical instruments with a recycled twist!

The Fremont Fair continues to embrace buskers – as you walk through the fair grounds on Saturday and Sunday keep a look out for impromptu chalk artists, musicians, magic acts, jugglers, and who knows what next!
